π©π»βπ» The Hidden Rewards of Attending Events When You Least Feel Like It
P.S. It is worth the effort.

Hi Team π
Hope you are all well. How's your work week been?
I am keen to hear about your work updates, new jobs and responsibilities, work challenges or projects you are working on. You can always respond to me by simply replying to this email or send me a message on LinkedIn.
π When you donβt feel like going to events! Why even bother?!
This is how I feel most of the time.

I donβt like itβ¦until I get there and I actually start to enjoy it and thank myself for making myself go.
I am sure most us have had days when we didn't feel like going somewhere only to enjoy the event itself and reflect positively on it.
It can be inspiring, invigorating and fresh.
Just what we need from time to time.
Needless to say socialising is good for our wellbeing and mental health.
βHave you ever been to a go live party at work?β
...we were asked this question by Jason Averbook in London a few weeks ago. To be more precise, it was an event called - Business, People & More - Let's Open the Door to 2024 organised by Mercer and Corporate Research Forum (CRF).
...many of us have seen or been a part of new digital/technology changes.
It may look like this:
β Many work hard to get to the 'go live date'.
β When we get to it, the launch takes place, we celebrate.
β And then we call it a day. The work has been completed.
When in fact, this is when the hard work really should begin.
π‘Jason challenged us to change the way we think about 'go live' approach and in fact change our mindset to 'go begin' approach.

πThe beginning of the journey ahead.
In fact, Jason asked us many great questions. Another great question you may wish to ask yourself today:
"We are in 2023 now, soon 2024, what year is it in your organisation?"
I love this question. Most people in the room answered 2000, 2010, 2015, clearly stating their organisations need to catch up as it doesnβt feel like it is 2023 internally.
Most people have better equipment at home and access to better tools than companies offer at the moment.
Wow! This wasn't always the case.
Companies once had better equipment/tools than their employees and customers. It is clear that the tables have turned and many initiatives/digital strategies require a different approach.
I have met many great people, connected, exchanged ideas. I felt so inspired, energised and motivated when I left.
I will definitely be making more effort to attend events.
Q: When was the last time you made an effort to go to an event or even work event/workshop etc?
π§° Work Tools
My favourite tool at the moment is Figma. I have used it a lot for free. I had to make a flow chart the other day and it worked like a dream. Much better than creating a flow chart in Power Point.
Let me know if you decide to try it and your feedback.

Until next Sunday, best wishes
P.S. Please see below if you are new here
π§° Notion - productivity app
Have you heard of Notion? Notion is a productivity app. Your wiki, docs,
& projects. Together. Notion is the connected workspace where
better, faster work happens. Now with AI.
You can use it on your phone, laptop and computer. All connected, so if you update something on your phone it is automatically updated on all devices.
I will be using this app to share various tools with you I create from time to time. I suggest you download it and register, it is free to get started.
If new to Notion, start from here.
π Personal Work Performance Review
As a thank you for subscribing, please download a Personal Work Performance Review Notion template. I created this long time ago and improved over time.
December performance reviews at work are coming up slowly but surely so it is best to be ready.
π€ How does it work?
β You simply click on it; it will take you to a webpage.
β Then find where it says duplicate (usually the right hand corner), click on it and it will duplicate it to your Notion workspace. Simple and easy.
β You can then continue to edit, adapt and use further.
